Putting the ‘thanks’ in Thanksgiving

The Mercer Island Clergy Association and Youth and Family Services will host a Thanksgiving community gathering on Sunday.

The city’s Youth and Family Services Department is presenting a community Thanksgiving event in partnership with the Mercer Island Clergy Association, at the Community and Event Center from 5-6 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 22.

This year’s (non-religious) event, titled “The Thanks in Thanksgiving,” will feature various representatives of local community groups and schools speaking about the outreach work they do to benefit other people on the Island and beyond.

“There will be input from the faith groups (Jewish, Muslim, and Christian) plus some musical numbers,” said Rev. Roberta Rominger, of the Congregational Church on Mercer Island.

The program of readings and music for the season will include a greeting from Mayor Bruce Bassett and a performance by the Covenant Shores Antique Kids line-dancing group.

Everyone is invited.
