A children’s speech therapist moved into the north end of Mercer Island last month. Megan Campbell’s practice, Campbell Speech Pathology, aids children ages 1 1/2 to 18 who have speech and language disorders.

Campbell offers early intervention services and specializes in receptive/expressive language delays, articulation/phonological disorders, motor speech difficulties, autism spectrum disorders and developmental delays. Formal evaluations and ongoing speech therapy are offered, and free screenings are available to determine whether or not a formal evaluation is necessary.

The most rewarding part of Campbell’s work, she said, is “seeing a child that comes in and feels a little bit shy and not really sure of themselves and their voice — seeing their eyes light up and figuring out, I can do this, I can change this, once they start getting really motivated.”

“I work to make sure the kids stay motivated and inspired,” Campbell said.

Campbell has a bachelor’s and masters degrees in speech and hearing sciences, and is trained in PROMPT (Prompts for Restructuring Oral Muscular Phonetic Targets). She is licensed by Washington state and has a Certificate of Clinical Competency (CCC-SLP) through the American Speech Language Hearing Association.

Campbell has contracts with several local insurance companies and coordinates each client’s insurance billings. Private payments are accepted if insurance coverage is not provided.

Campbell’s practice is located in the Chase Bank building at 7900 S.E. 28th Street, Suite 200.
