Six students from Mercer Island will participate in the annual Pacific Northwest Ballet (PNB) production of the “Nutcracker” this winter. The show, created by PNB founding artistic director Kent Stowell and author and illustrator Maurice Sendak, will open on Nov. 27 at McCaw Hall in Seattle.

Performances run through Dec. 30 and tickets are available via the PNB’s Web site at www.pnb.org.

Whistler 2010: Share your experience

It may seem like it’s still ages away, but in fact the fervor leading up to the Whistler Olympics early next year is already starting to amp up.

People already have tickets; hotels, resorts and condos are long gone, and the border lines are only going to get longer.

Prior to the Winter Games, the Mercer Island Reporter wants to hear from you.

Do you have tickets? For which events? What is your game plan for heading across the border in February? Have you begun to tackle the passport issue yet? What are you looking forward to the most — getting to see world-class athletes push themselves to the limit?

Even if you aren’t planning to attend any of the events, do you think Seattle and the rest of Western Washington is going to see an impact as the international spotlight brightens our corner of the world?

Corrections

• The final record for the Northwest Yeshiva High School girls volleyball team was incorrectly stated in last week’s issue. The team finished their season with an overall record of 11-4.

• In the article “MIHS girls swim and dive captures KingCo title” from the Nov. 3 issue, the MIHS girls swim team record of winning KingCo was misstated. The team won the KingCo title from 2001-2007 and again this season.

The Reporter regrets these errors.
