More Mostly Music

Music in the Park continues at Mercerdale Park this week with Rouge (French Cabaret music) on Thursday, Aug. 7, and Hot Club Sandwich, Django Jazz, Sunday, Aug. 10. Performances start at 7 p.m. and are free to the public.

520 tolling meeting

The SR-520 Tolling Implementation Committee will visit Mercer Island to show how tolls can help pay for a new 520 bridge. The open house on Aug. 13 gives the public the opportunity to provide input and learn about four tolling options being evaluated. The open houses will include comparisons of forecasts of bridge funding raised by different toll rates and changes in traffic patterns. The open houses will be held from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. with a formal presentation at 6 p.m. For information go to www.build520.org.

Free skin cancer screenings at Rite Aid

Between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 7, the Skin Cancer Foundation will have a 38-foot customized RV to offer free full-body skin cancer screenings at Rite Aid on 78th Avenue S.E., across from Mercerdale Park. Local board-certified dermatologists will donate their time to conduct the screenings.
