The big parade

The Grand Homecoming Parade featuring the Mercer Island High School Marching Band, class royalty and floats will make its annual appearance in the Town Center this Friday evening at 5:30 p.m. The parade begins at Mercerdale Park, heads north down 77th Avenue S.E., turns right at S.E. 27th, then left at 80th Avenue S.E. The Homecoming football game against Ingraham High School begins at Islander Stadium at 7:30 p.m. Come early for food and fun.

Art show

The Mercer Island Visual Arts League Annual Holiday Arts and Crafts Juried Art Show opens on Monday, Oct. 20, at the Community Center at Mercer View. Paintings, ceramics, photography, sculpture and fiber arts will be featured and are for sale. The show will continue through mid-December. The Artists’ Reception will be between 6 and 8 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 23, at the CCMV.

Theatre fair

Youth Theatre Northwest is celebrating its 25th anniversary by having a fair on Sunday, Oct. 19, from 1 to 4 p.m. There will be games, crafts, sword play, food, a costume sale and an appearance by Mercer Island author, Jack Perlutsky. Free and open to everyone. The theatre is located at 8805 S.E. 40th St.
