Westbound Interstate 90 will be reduced to one lane and detoured to express lanes from 11 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4 to 5 a.m. Monday, Nov. 7.

Drivers traveling to Seattle from the Eastside should plan for lengthy delays along Interstate 405, westbound State Route 520 and westbound I-90. Drivers heading to Mercer Island will exit westbound I-90 at East Mercer Way. There are no westbound exits to Mercer Island from the express lanes. Those wishing to travel from Mercer Island to Seattle should enter the express lanes at 77th Avenue Southeast or Island Crest Way.

Once WSDOT opens the new HOV lanes on the outer roadways of I-90, Sound Transit will begin construction of the 14-mile East Link light rail extension from Seattle to Redmond in the express lanes.

Contractor crews continue to replace the existing floating bridge railing between the I-90 Trail and Lake Washington. The trail will be narrowed through the work zone and flaggers will be present during work hours. It’s important that trail users follow directions from flaggers to ensure safety for both trail users and workers.

Crews have closed the neighborhood trail connection between the I-90 Trail and 60th Avenue Southeast on Mercer Island for drainage work. This work is expected to last through November. During the closure, trail users should use the path on the south side of I-90 and West Mercer Way to reach the I-90 Trail.
