Softball beats Hazen 10-4; Islander baseball shuts out Interlake 10-0.

Fastpitch hammers Hazen

Mercer Island fastpitch improved to 2-1 this season with a 10-4 win over Hazen Monday at South Mercer Playfields.

Morgan Peyou went 3-4 at the plate while earning the win on the pitcher’s mound. Phoebe Larson and Rory Murphy each batted 2-4 for Mercer Island.

Next, the Islanders will take on Liberty at 4:30 p.m. March 31 at Liberty High School.

 

Islander baseball blanks Saints

Mercer Island baseball rolled through Interlake, scoring a 10-0 win Monday at Island Crest Park.

Peter Lopes pitched a complete game shutout, allowing only one hit in seven innings of work. Anthony Scalzo swung for three hits, and Harrison Goonewardene, Michael Petrie and Noah Hsue each had two hits for Mercer Island.

The Islanders will take on the Saints again at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at Island Crest Park.
