Brian Michael Lempriere

Brian Michael Lempriere, 77, died in Bellevue, WA on August 3, 2010 surrounded by his family after a lengthy struggle with cancer. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was born on December 16, 1932 in Maurtius, Indian Ocean and moved as a young child to the Island of Jersey in the English Channel. He obtained degrees in Aeronautics from London University and Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn, NY and a PhD from Stanford University. He was a Lecturer at The College of Aeronautics, Cranfield, England, an engineer at Lockheed Missiles and Space and for over 20 years at The Boeing Company. He published numerous technical papers, held two patents related to x-ray imaging, published a book on “Ultrasonics and Elastic Waves” and another on his memoirs “My Exotic Youth”. Brian met his wife Shirley Cawood at a church in Brooklyn, NY where they were married in 1956. After living in New York, Cranfield, UK, and California they settled in the Seattle area. He is survived by his wife Shirley, his brother John and wife Jean, daughter Evelyn, son Mike and his grandchildren Elizabeth, Katherine and Ellis.Brian enjoyed sailing, bike riding, Mah Jongg, collecting blackberries with the kids, watching waves on Whidbey Island and spending time with family. In retirement he was involved in his community and tutored math at Newport High School and was a member, newsletter editor and President of the Board of Pembrook Meadow’s Homeowners’ Assoc. A service will be held at St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church, 4228 Factoria Boulevard SE, Bellevue, WA on Tuesday, August 10, 2010 at 10:30am. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the American Cancer Society.
