Iris (Drees) George

Iris (Drees) George died July 17, 2010 from complications of a stroke after surgery. She was born September 2, 1936 in Norfolk, NE.Raised in San Francisco, she met Gene George roller skating and married Gene, the love of her life, August 11, 1956. Early in their marriage, Iris worked to put Gene through college. As a young mom she sold oil paintings in a Pasadena Gallery. After moving across the country, the family has called Mercer Island home since 1976. She was an avid tennis, golf and bridge player, family sailor and in earlier days made the most of many ski, camping and canoe trips. Iris was also active in her parish, as a hospital volunteer and ESL tutor. She is survived by her children Gregory, Jennifer & Christopher. Iris loved being “Grandma” to Adriana & Tyler Heilman and John & James George. There will be a service at St. Therese church at 3416 E. Marion in Seattle on Thursday, July 29 at 3pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Vincent de Paul or your favorite charity.
