Mary Katherine Miles Whitaker was born on May 23, 1919 to Howard and Della King Miles in Clarksburg, Md. She died on Feb. 20, 2009. She graduated from Mary Baldwin and received her M.A. from the University of Maryland. On Dec. 31, 1941 she married Ernest J. Whitaker. She is survived by five sons, James, William, Steve, Thomas and David; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Col. Ernest J. Whitaker; and son, Patrick J. Whitaker. A visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 26, at Sunset Hills Funeral Home, 1215 145th Pl. S.E., Bellevue, WA 98007. Vigil Service will be at 6 p.m., Feb. 26, at St. Monica Catholic Church, 4315 88th Ave. S.E. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 27, at St. Monica Catholic Church.
