Philip J. (Rosic) Rasic M.D.

Philip J. Rasic passed away January 11, 2010. He was born June 28, 1936 in Steubenville, Ohio to Anna and Joseph Rosic. Following graduation from MIT he earned his Doctor of Ophthalmology at Boston University in 1962. Following his discharge as a Captain in the United States Airforce in 1968 he opened his ophthalmology practice in Seattle and on Mercer Island, retiring in 2001. He maintained the Mercer Island office as a courtesy to his patients during the entirety of his practice. He was on the staff at Childrens Hospital and Medical Center for many years.He brought from the east some of the new technology and equipment for laser surgery for the eye and was one of the first in the Seattle area to develop and use it successfully in his practice. As an offspring of his interest of the lens of the eye and lenses of the camera his photographic hobby produced phenomenal landscape, floral and animal pictures which he displayed in both offices.Because of his excellence in teaching he trained his associates in opticianary and they remained with him until he retired. He was preceded in death by his first wife Patricia and is survived by his wife, Atsuko Chitose and two daughters, Stephanie Rasic and Stacey (Jeff) Webber. The memorial service will be held Friday, January 29, 2010 11:00 AM, at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 4400 86th Ave SE Mercer Island.
