RALPH O. WINTER

Ralph O. Winter died peacefully June 24, 2018 at Blueberry Gardens, Bothell, WA. He was born at home March 27, 1925, in Concordia, MO. He spent his first eighteen years in Concordia. He attended University of Kansas, graduating with an Aeronautical Engineering degree 1949. Ralph was a member of National Engineering Honor Society, Tau Beta Pi. He received from Washington University, St Louis a Master of Science degree in Applied Mechanics 1955. On May 31, 1952 he married Virginia Eloise Jacobson of Webster Groves, MO. In 1957, they moved to Littleton, CO, and to Mercer Island, WA in 1965. He served two years in Army 66th Infantry Div. in WWII. He enjoyed gardening, singing in church choir, teaching & tutoring math, camping with his children, playing bridge & dominoes. Mr. Winter was active in Presbyterian, Methodist and Covenant churches of Mercer Island. He retired from a 25-year career at Boeing in 1990.

Ralph is preceded in death by his parents, Gustave and Katherine Winter, by his wife Virginia, his sisters Ruth Swanson & Evelyn Smith. He is survived by four children Cathy Flanagan, David Winter, Diane Winter & Carol Roberson, eight grandchildren John IV & Steven Flanagan, Rebecca Westphal, Andrew & Emily Winter, Conor, Kayla & Kyle Roberson; four great-grandchildren Helena, Julia, John V Flanagan & Aiden Westphal.

A memorial service will be held at 2 pm on Sunday, July 29th at Covenant Shores Fellowship Hall on Mercer Island. Remembrances are suggested to be sent to Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.
