At the last minute, a minority of the Joint Commission threw out what they called “4 plus” (basically 5 stories) by requiring 10 percent public space.
The council, which ignored the public input they requested, then chose to ignore the Joint Commission’s 3/4/5 and then adopted the 4 plus, even reduced the 10 percent. What an amazing and insulting waste of people’s time and the city’s money.
The most amazing part of the meeting was that council members raised issues, then Mayor Bassett gave his opinion and most council members lined up like ducks and voted for what he wants.
