The Mercer Island boys defended their No. 6 state ranking with a 69-41 win over Interlake on Tuesday evening. The Islanders, who are 9-2 this season, had a solid first half before a 26 point third quarter allowed the team to pull away from the Saints once and for all.

During the win Brian Miller had a team high of 24 points, while Jeff Lindquist had 12 points in the game. Both Derek Newhof and Parker Scott added 10 for the team and Sam Cohn had eight. Sean Hughes had three and Joe Rassmussen put in two for the team.

Mercer Island currently sits in the No. 2 spot in the KingCo league, behind Bellevue. The Islanders will host Juanita on Friday evening with an 8 p.m. start time.
