J-Rod a hit at MILL opening day celebration

Seattle Mariners center fielder Julio Rodriguez made a surprise visit at the Mercer Island Little League 20th anniversary opening day celebration on April 26 at South Mercer Baseball Fields. Here’s J-Rod pictured with home run derby winners Emma Christofferson (left) from Coast Softball, and Molly Sorensen (right) from Majors Softball. Other home run derby winners were: Majors Baseball: Brooks Roodman, Phillies; Coast Baseball: Maverick McLear, Angels; Coast Softball: Maroon Monsoon; AAA Baseball: Ben Schmies, Reds (and kudos to runner up Rollie Engel after a three-round tiebreaker); and AAA Softball (tie): Wyatt Allison and Gianna Besecker.
