Mercer Island baseball clubs Interlake, improves to 2-2

The Mercer Island High School baseball team improved to 2-2 on the young season with a 16-2 rout of Interlake in five innings at Bannerwood Park in Bellevue Tuesday.

The Islanders scored three in the first on a three RBI single by senior David Courtney.

Mercer Island starting pitcher Cameron Wilson shut down the Saints with three strikeouts during the first inning. Wilson would finish with seven strikeouts in three innings.

The Islander offense came alive during the fourth inning, scoring 13 runs one just three base hits.

The Islanders will host Sammamish at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Island Crest Park.
