Mercer Island High boys golfers win state team title

Mercer Island High School’s boys golf team notched the 3A state title following the two-day competition on May 24-25 at Liberty Lake Golf Course.

Over two 18-hole rounds, the Islanders finished with 569 points and Mead took second with 585.

Individually, Ethan Evans placed second with a 68-69-137; Spencer Smith took third with a 66-72-138; Wonjoon Seo tied for 15th with a 72-74-146; Elliott Hoang tied for 21st with a 75-75-150; and Evan Otte tied for 25th with a 78-73-151.

Max Herendeen of Bishop Blanchet finished first with a 68-63-131.

On the Mercer Island girls side at Meadowwood Golf Course in Liberty Lake, the Islanders took fourth in the team standings with 634 points. Interlake finished first with 599.

Individually, Lucia Morelli finished 16th with 73-79-152; Elle Evans tied for 20th with 77-77-154; Yumi Baston tied for 34th with 80-85-165; Sydney Hoang took 38th with 86-81-167; Nina Baston tied for 43rd with 89-81-170; and Mayah Park tied for 45th with 87-84-171.
