Islanders dominate Vikings

Mercer Island scores 17 goals against Puyallup.

Mercer Island goalie Finn Friedland rose to the occasion against the Puyallup Vikings.

Friedland, who had nine saves between the posts, propelled the Islanders to a 17-3 victory against the Vikings on Sept. 18 on Mercer Island. Seven different Islanders players recorded a goal against Puyallup. Mercer Island led the entire game, bolting out to a 6-1 lead after the first quarter of play. The Islanders extended their lead to 11-1 at halftime and 16-1 after three quarters. The Islanders found their rhythm on defense for a combined 17 steals. Oliver Schaaf had four steals in the victory. Max Vacca scored a game-high six goals in the contest. Leif Gullstad added four goals and Oliver Schaaf chipped in three goals. Nate Robinson, Lucas Peng, Will Cero and Jack Shoop each had a goal as well.
