Islander boys golf sends two to districts

With the cutoff at 80 strokes, the Islanders advanced two golfers to the district tournament, with Zach Evens and Will Mansfield placing in the top 20 to move on to the district round. Evens finished with a score of 77, while Mansfield shot a 78 to advance. Sammamish’s Matt Marrese had the day’s top score, shooting 2-under-par. Marrese was the only golfer to shoot under par for the day.

Islanders Ryan Nguyen and Braden Williams, both shooting 81 for the day, advanced as first and second alternates.

Mercer Island tied Lake Washington for third place, with both teams earning an overall score of 400. Sammamish, KingCo’s top team in the regular season, won the tournament with a team score of 378, while Interlake placed second at 391.

The 3A Sea-King district golf tournament will take place Monday, Oct. 20 at Snohomish Golf Course.
