Return Tana Senn to State Legislature | Editorial

‘Senn is more than just an early learning advocate in Olympia’

After serving just one session in the Washington state Legislature, Islander Tana Senn is primed for another term to serve the 41st District.

Mercer Island City Councilmember Tana Senn is running for State Representative for the 41st Legislative District. Senn was appointed to fill the unexpired term of Marcie Maxwell last year.

Senn has been doing dual duty. She kept her seat on the City Council during the 60-day session last fall. She has been a City Councilmember since her appointment to the post vacated by former city mayor, Jim Pearman in 2012.

Soon after she arrived in Olympia, she became the vice chair of the House Environment Committee, a member of the House Capital Budget Committee and the Committee for Early Learning & Human Services. Later on, she was tapped to take part in the National Conference of State Legislatures’  Early Learning Fellows program. She was one of 20 legislators across the country to be invited.

While it might be easy to categorize her main focus as early education, Senn has been busy on topics as varied as helping small business, state parks and transportation. According to WashingtonVotes.org, Senn did not miss a single vote on the 517 roll calls during her abbreviated term.

Senn is smart, caring and a born collaborator —  always willing to listen and learn. She is passionate and committed.  Return Tana Senn to Olympia.

Vote No on I-1351

The initiative to reduce class sizes would require money that is not available. The Legislature needs to take care of the McCleary Mandate to fund state education first.
