Kirk, Kimmel and the First Amendment

Sometimes one may wonder where we are at and where we are heading in this great country we call home. I believe that most of us feel that the First Amendment and the freedom of speech is a very important right bestowed upon us by our forefathers.

The threat to our freedom of speech is not a new threat, but this threat is still concerning as it is a right that is worth defending and protecting. No matter if you feel what Charlie Kirk was saying was right or wrong, violence is never the answer. This concept also applies to Jimmy Kimmel, who was temporarily cancelled due to a comment that seemed benign as to what late night hosts say on a regular basis, night in and night out.

Shame on Disney for canceling the Kimmel show, just because a federal governmental agency gave them a call and threatened them. Cheers to the shareholders and the subscribers of the various Disney offerings to cancel as to Disney’s cowardly act.

The recent events help us all remember that we shouldn’t take our rights for granted and that these rights may be more fragile than we may believe.
