Support for Stephanie Burnett.

Mayor endorses Stephanie Burnett

I am pleased to endorse Stephanie Burnett for Mercer Island School Board, Position 4. Her priorities of restoring trust, protecting students, and advancing academic excellence and growth reflect exactly what our district needs at this moment.

As an active parent leader, Stephanie has listened carefully to families, elevated their concerns, and worked to support every child. She has the track record and temperament to restore civility and confidence in our board. Her background as a business owner, attorney, and longtime school volunteer gives her a rare combination of analytical discipline, community engagement, and respect for education.

Mercer Island deserves a school board that conducts its work transparently, makes decisions grounded in evidence, and keeps the focus on what matters most, student learning and well-being. Stephanie understands that strong financial stewardship is essential. She will preserve what makes our schools exceptional while managing taxpayer resources responsibly and maintaining a balanced budget. She recognizes the importance of raising academic standards and strengthening rigor, particularly in math and literacy. She also supports balanced technology use in the classroom to promote learning while maintaining healthy, age-appropriate limits.

I have confidence that Stephanie Burnett brings the clarity, heart, and competence to lead our district forward. Islanders who care about respectful leadership, academic excellence, and attentive governance should join me in voting for Stephanie Burnett, Position 4.
