AIDS Walk team

Team MIPC from Mercer Island Presbyterian Church participated in the 2007 AIDS Walk on Sept. 29. The group of 35 volunteers helped to raise $15,500 for AIDS research.

Jeffrey Pimentel on Broadway

Jeffrey Pimentel of Mercer Island appeared in the bright lights on Broadway on Sept. 30 to kick off National Down Syndrome Awareness month in October. Jeffrey’s photo was part of the National Down Syndrome Society’s video production to demonstrate that people with Down syndrome can be successfully included in community activities, education and employment.

The photo of Jeffrey, who has Down syndrome, was selected from over 2,500 entries in the NDSS nationwide call for photos. Approximately 215 photographs were included in the video production that was shown on the larger-than-life Newscorp Astrovision by Panasonic, located in the heart of Times Square. Jeffrey is pictured with the Mariner Moose.
