’12th Man’ wine available at North Mercer QFC now

'12th Man' wine , by local vinter Northwest Cellars in Kirkland, arrives just in time for the big game.

Mercer Island wine columnist extraordinaire Dee Hitch reports that Alex, the wine steward at North Mercer QFC, has been able to get “12th Man” wine in. This wine has “12” on the front label with a seismograph reading of crowd noise. There is a Seahawks player ready to strike in the background.

But the best part Hitch says, “this wine is delicious.”  It is from Northwest Cellars based in Kirkland.  Bob Delf, the owner, is a master blender, and his speciality is vanity labels (for want of another term).  He originated the Mercer Island Merlot label which was only available at North Mercer QFC for the first five years before South Mercer was allowed to have it at that QFC.

“12th” is one of those fantastic Washington red blends — fruit-forward and mouth-filling. It is a blend of mourvedre, grenache, syrah, and merlot.  This is not Delf’s first Seahawks label.  In a partnership with a Seattle hotel, he developed another Seahawks label.  Northwest Cellars has received many awards through the years for their wines.

“12th” is a must-have for this weekend and for the weeks to come!
