21 Mercer Island musicians tapped for ‘All State Band”

Twenty-one Mercer Island High School band students were selected from a pool of applicants from around the state to perform with one of the Washington All-State Honor groups.

Twenty-one Mercer Island High School band students were selected from a pool of applicants from around the state to perform with one of the Washington All-State Honor groups. They will represent MIHS in Yakima, at the Washington Music Educators Association state conference in February.

The students submitted audition tapes and were selected in a blind audition. This is the largest number of Mercer Island band students ever to be selected to participate in one year. The students selected are:

•  Dylan Lesko, percussion

• Ian Schneiderman, bassoon

• Nicole Anderson, trumpet

• Alison Rosenman, trombone

• Jason McRuer, French horn

• Ryan Wong, Bb soprano clarinet

• Jason Campbell, trombone

• Yu ‘Roy’ Cao, Bb soprano clarinet

• Taylor Hartley, percussion

• Amanda Wall, Bb soprano clarinet

• Shea Kelsay, trumpet

• Eric Dean, bassoon

• Kira Newell, trumpet

• Jared Walker, tuba

• Dalton He, euphonium

• Nolan Conway, tuba

• Alex Banbury, Oboe

• Daniel Schwartz, French Horn

• Isaac Miller, Oboe

• Emily Wang, flute

• Devin Nelson, trumpet
