The young Islander ran a lemonade stand outside the downtown Coldwell Banker Bain office on Thursday afternoon, with the help of her sisters Natalie and Emily and her cousin Liat Perlman, and collected donations of cash and needed items to give to homeless people.

Rainey’s mom, Jennifer, said her daughter got the idea from a similar campaign during a Jewish Family Service luncheon, and that her “little humanitarian” was inspired.

Rosenwald wrote letters to her neighbors, friends and family asking them to donate particular items, including toothpaste, toothbrushes, disposable razors, chapstick, oatmeal packs, coffee packets and tissue packs, to the lemonade stand. She organized and assembled the items in Ziplock bags, and will deliver the “Rai Bags” to the Jewish Family Service Food Bank.

Jennifer said that her daughter had collected enough supplies to make more than 100 bags, and that the lemonade stand also brought in $150 in cash, which will be used to buy more toiletries.
