8 car prowls, 1 car theft in crime spree near Island Crest Park

Eight prowls of unlocked vehicles took place in neighborhoods near Island Crest Park on Sunday night, March 24. A beige 1988 Toyota Camry was stolen out of a driveway after 8:30 p.m. in the 5600 block of 89th Avenue S.E.

Eight prowls of unlocked vehicles took place in neighborhoods near Island Crest Park on Sunday night, March 24.

A beige 1988 Toyota Camry was stolen out of a driveway after 8:30 p.m. in the 5600 block of 89th Avenue S.E., in a neighborhood east of Island Crest Park. Two pairs of sunglasses were stolen out of the glovebox in a second vehicle, a Toyota Prius, at the residence.

Someone entered a Volkswagen Eurovan in the 5700 block of 92nd Avenue S.E. and stole an iPod Touch, $20 in cash, 12 keys and various cords. A blue kids’ bike and Razor scooter were stolen from the front porch of the residence. The total loss was $620. In the same neighborhood, a First Aid kit was stolen out of an Audi Allroad vehicle, in the 8800 block of S.E. 58th Street.

Further east, in the 9300 block of S.E. 57th Street, items were stolen out of a Ford Fusion. Several gift cards worth $200 were stolen along with a Garmin GPS worth $200 and a bank of 40 commercial washer keys worth $100. In the same block, two additional vehicles, a Nissan Versa and Toyota Highlander, were also prowled. $5 in cash was stolen.

Two briefcases full of business documents were stolen out of another vehicle in the 8900 block of S.E. 56th Street after the vehicle’s tailgate and rear door windows were smashed, in the driveway. The total loss and damage was $1,600.

A kids’ Sun Cruiser bicycle was recovered in the location of the car prowls, in the 5600 block of 89th Avenue S.E. The seat was missing, but the bike was returned to its owners. The bike had been stolen out of a driveway in the 9000 block of S.E. 58th Street.

In a separate neighborhood further south, a kids’ helmet and bike with training wheels were stolen out of a Toyota Sequoia in the 8300 block of S.E. 64th Street, near the northwest corner of Pioneer Park. The total loss was $120.
