Wolverines use second-half goal to edge Islanders; boys tennis sweeps Kangs.

Girls soccer falls to Bellevue

Mercer Island girls soccer saw its undefeated streak come to an end Tuesday night in Bellevue. Behind a second-half goal from Carly Tudor, the Wolverines edged the Islanders 1-0 at Bellevue High School.

With the win, Bellevue (6-3, 5-1 in KingCo) tied Mercer Island (9-1, 5-1) for first place in the KingCo 3A/2A standings.

Next, the Islanders will take on Interlake at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8 at Interlake High School.

Islander boys tennis won out in both singles and doubles competition to beat Lake Washington 7-0 Tuesday afternoon at MIHS.

In singles, Brandon Wong defeated Shubhy Purohit 6-1, 6-2. Nils Harder beat Lyle Goldstein 6-1, 6-0, Chris Elliott won over Aria Tabatabai 6-0, 6-1, and Jarod Wong beat Alex Levine 6-0, 6-0.

In doubles, Caden Conder and Jake Bethards beat Chris Gould and Jacob Rumpf 6-1, 6-3. Jonah Tang and Alex Banbury defeated Peter Griff and Jason Tipp 6-0, 6-0, and Max Boksem and Luke Boksem defeated Patrick Roller and Ricky Koishida 6-3, 6-1.

Next, Mercer Island will take on Bellevue at 3:45 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8 at Bellevue High School. Both teams are undefeated in league play and are tied for first place.
