Boys bounce back against Saints | Prep boys basketball

The Mercer Island boys basketball team ended a two-game losing streak Monday, beating Interlake 60-46 at Mercer Island High School.

The Mercer Island boys basketball team ended a two-game losing streak, beating the Interlake Saints 60-46 Monday, Jan. 13 at Mercer Island High School. The game was a make-up from the Dec. 20 snow closure.

The Islanders came out aggressive, pressing the Saints early and scoring often to lead 21-7 after the first quarter. They led by as much as 20 in the second quarter, heading into halftime up 39-20. Mercer Island never looked back in the second half, as they maintained a lead around 18 for much of the half.

With the win, Mercer Island improved its conference record to 5-2 and its overall record to 9-3. The Islanders travel to Sammamish High School to face the Totems at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14.
