April 5

Fraud: An Island man reported identity theft at 3:20 p.m. in the 7200 block of 92nd Ave. SE. His information was used to open a charge account without his permission.

April 8

Dispute: A contract dispute between two companies working on Islander Middle School was referred to Mercer Island police at 2:06 p.m. The ownership of building materials is in question.

April 11

Theft: An Island woman in the 8400 block of SE 78th St. reported at 9:29 a.m. that her debit card was stolen and used.

Jury duty scam: An Island woman in the 9000 block of SE 50th St. paid a phone scammer $850 with a prepaid charge card for an alleged jury duty violation at 12:26 p.m.

April 12

Credit check: An Island man in the 6100 block of W. Mercer Way said he was reviewing his credit check online at 9:55 a.m. and discovered a lien on his report from a collections agency, supposedly from an outstanding apartment rental bill.

April 14

Prowling: A victim said his unlocked car was prowled at 7:18 a.m. in the 4500 block of 90th Ave. SE. A significant amount of property was left behind, but no evidence was collected. There are numerous associated prowls in the area.

More prowls: Three cars were reported to be prowled at 7:20 a.m. in the 4300 block of 91st Ave. SE. Nothing was damaged or reported missing at the time. Police took several CD cases to check for latent prints.

Prowling: Also in the 4300 block of 91st Ave. SE, two car prowls were reported at 7:26 a.m. Nothing was taken from the unlocked vehicles, but a boy’s bike was stolen from the driveway.

More prowls: In the same block, two unlocked cars were prowled overnight but nothing was missing. This incident was reported at 7:49 a.m.

More: In the 4500 block of 90th Ave. SE, two more car prowls were reported at 8:58 a.m. There was no damage to the vehicles and nothing was taken.

Prowls: At 7:14 p.m., an Island woman in the 2900 block of 76th Ave. SE said her locked car was prowled and earrings and a longboard were taken, for a loss of $500.

April 15

Theft: A Seattle woman reported her cell phone was stolen at 2:54 p.m. from an unsecured locker at the Stroum Jewish Community Center, in the 3800 block of E. Mercer Way.

Missing person: An Island woman in the 2800 block of 78th Ave. SE reported at 5:25 p.m. that her juvenile daughter ran away. She was concerned about her not coming home due to prescription medication she is required to take.

April 16

DUI: A 32-year-old Islander was arrested at 3:06 a.m. on suspicion of driving under the influence in the 5300 block of E. Mercer Way.

Death investigation: An elderly Island woman died at about 1 a.m. in the 5300 block of 90th Ave. SE. Police were notified via hospice later that day, and the King County Medical Examiner’s office took the body.

Fraud: An Island man in the 5000 block of 88th Ave. SE reported at 1: 48 p.m. that his Social Security number was utilized in a fraudulent federal income tax return.

Order violation: An Island woman in the 9000 block of E. Shorewood Drive reported a violation of an order between two juveniles, who she witnessed together, at 5:05 p.m.
