City Council to choose new member next week

The Mercer Island City Council will hear from candidates for the open position on the City Council on Jan. 23, then vote on Jan. 26 to elect a new Councilmember.

The Mercer Island City Council will hold two special meetings both at 7 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 23, and on Thursday, Jan. 26 to fill City Council Pos. 4 vacated by outgoing Mayor Jim Pearman. The Monday meeting will be for candidate speeches. The Council will vote to select the new Councilmember on Thursday. Both meetings will take place in the City Hall Council Chambers at 9611 SE 36th St.
