City of Mercer Island hosts ‘You Powered’ block party and Trails Day

The City of Mercer Island, along with the Green Ribbon Commission, is hosting a block party in the South end shopping area on Saturday, June 5. The “You Powered” block party will bring Island businesses and locals together to celebrate the benefits of shopping locally and using alternative transportation options. There will be prizes, food, music, electric bike demos, bike check-ups and arts and crafts.

There will be prizes, food, music, electric bike demos, bike check-ups and arts and crafts.

The first 10 people to arrive at the event by walking their dog will get a free Krebs leash, made from recycled climbing rope.

Also on June 5, celebrate National Trails Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with the “Trail Trek” in Pioneer Park.

The park will be medieval for the day, with Renaissance themes throughout the park.
