City recycling collection event is March 26

The annual recycling event to collect old equipment and household items returns again this spring. On Saturday, March 26, from 9 am. to 3 p.m. at the Mercer Island boat launch, located at 3600 E. Mercer Way, Islanders can bring items to be recycled.

On Saturday, March 26, from 9 am. to 3 p.m. at the Mercer Island boat launch, located at 3600 E. Mercer Way, Islanders can bring items to be recycled.

Items that are allowed include: alkaline batteries, appliances and scrap metal, cardboard, household goods and clothing in good condition, motor oil, filters and antifreeze and tires, limited to six per household.

Items not accepted at the event include: construction or demolition debris, garbage, mattresses and furniture, plastics, window glass, cleaning products, household chemicals, fluorescent lights, paint, among others.

There is a charge for certain items. All are cash only. TV sets are $20 for under 36 inches; $25 for over 36 inches. Charges apply for other items as well.

Island residents can also use the free E-Cycle location on the Island for recycling computers, monitors, laptops and televisions.

E-Cycle is located at 7835 S.E. 30th Street on Mercer Island and is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday. Contact E-Cycle at (206) 355-6885 for more information.
