City seeks pro and con committee members for PSM bond measure

Mercer Island City Council directed staff to prepare a bond ordinance to fund the Public Safety & Maintenance (PSM) Facility at its June 17 regular meeting for placement on the Nov. 4 general election ballot, according to the city.

According to county and state elections laws, the city may organize the appointment of pro and con committees to prepare statements on ballot measures for the voters’ pamphlet. The city is seeking applications from interested community members to serve in these roles, and applications are due by noon on July 11.

The first reading of the ordinance is set for the July 1 city council meeting. A second reading is scheduled for council’s July 15 meeting.

The June 17 meeting also featured council’s approval of the PSM schematic design, setting the project budget at $103,900,000.
