Survivors of all types of cancer, including breast cancer, were honored at a Making Strides Against Breast Cancer rally at Covenant Shores on Oct. 7. The survivors led the Making Strides walk at Covenant Shores the next day.

Roxanne Helleren, resident life director at the Mercer Island retirement community, fought breast cancer last year, and organized the Making Strides events to raise money for the American Cancer Society.

There is a Making Strides walk in Seattle on Oct. 29.
