The Acura of Bellevue Four on the 4th Dog Jog and Walk is calling all dogs to the inaugural, 4-kilometer event on July 4. The non-competitive jog and walk, produced by the Bellevue Downtown Association, will start at 9 a.m. in Ashwood Park.

Pups and their owners may register online at www.bellevue4thrun.com. A portion of the registration fee will benefit the Seattle Humane Society in Bellevue, and donations to the society will help to fund adoptions, a pet food bank and humane treatment education.

“The 4th of July can be an otherwise stressful day for our furry friends,” said the BDA’s Mike Ogliore, vice president of events and operations. “We’re thrilled to partner with the Humane Society in this new, fun way to celebrate Independence Day and our love for dogs.”

Early registration through July 2 is $25 (per person), or registration on July 4 is $30 (per person). A registration fee of $60 is available for families with four to eight people. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. on July 4 in Ashwood Park.

Post jog-and-walk festivities in Ashwood Park will feature a dog costume contest, a kids bouncy zone, and the Humane Society’s MaxMobile, a 38-foot bright yellow bus full of adoptable animals. Shawn Stewart of KIRO 97.3 FM will be the master of ceremonies.

More information, registration, a Q&A, and route map are available at www.bellevue4thrun.com. Free parking will be available at the new Bellevue Regional Library parking garage, adjacent to Ashwood Park.
