Four car prowls reported in one day in Mercer Island | Police Blotter

The blotter consists of officers’ accounts of crimes and other incidents in Mercer Island. Persons arrested are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.

Feb. 15

BURGLARY: A subject reported a burglary that occurred on Nov. 20, 2016 from an out building in the 2700 block of 63rd Ave. SE. Two inflatable paddle boards and a 12 speed bike were stolen, and the lock to the storage building was missing.

Feb. 16

CAR THEFT: A woman discovered that her mom’s vehicle, which she is legally borrowing, was stolen from in front of her home in the 6900 block of 93rd Ave. SE at 7:13 a.m. Her other vehicle was prowled, but nothing appeared to be missing.

PROWLING: A vehicle parked on the street in the 7200 block of 93rd Ave. SE was prowled overnight, for a loss of $2,100 in items. It was likely left unlocked.

WARRANT ARREST: A driver was arrested on a felony warrant at 11:43 a.m. in the 8400 block of eastbound I-90 and transported to King County Jail, where he was booked.

THEFT: Two subjects suspected of stealing packages and reckless driving, including racing, were arrested in the 8200 block of SE 66th St. at 5:39 p.m. They were processed and released from MIPD. The suspect vehicle was kept in the police department’s sally port.

Feb. 17

PROWLING: An unsecured vehicle was prowled overnight in the 4100 block of 96th Ave. SE, and a checkbook was stolen. The victim heard car alarms going off in the area around 3 a.m.

MORE PROWLING: An unlocked vehicle parked in a driveway in the 4100 block of 93rd Ave. SE was prowled overnight, and DVDs and a fleece jacket were stolen.

ANOTHER PROWL: A subject reported that their vehicle was rummaged through and sporting equipment was stolen at 11:07 a.m. The victim didn’t lock the vehicle, and there was no visible damage.

PROWLING SPREE: A prowl of an unsecured vehicle in the 4000 block of 93rd Ave. SE was reported at 1:38 p.m. A Samsung Android cell phone and a billfold were stolen, and the victim’s credit card had fraudulent charges on it. The victim said she heard a noise around 2:30 a.m.
