A suspect bought two cakes at Baskin-Robbins in the 2900 block of 78th Avenue S.E. after 2:30 p.m. on April 17 with a forged money order and left with $134.02 in change. He fraudulently changed a $2 money order to $200. A security camera recorded the incident.

April 10

Malicious mischief: A Mercer Island woman’s vehicle was keyed sometime during the night in the 7600 block of S.E. 34th Street. One suspect is listed in the case.

April 11

Malicious mischief: Someone broke into an AM/FM tunnel antenna repeater box in the 2200 block of 72nd Avenue S.E. and cut the coaxial cable sometime between 12 p.m. and the next morning. The damage, totaling $250, caused service to be lost.

Car prowl: A wallet was stolen out of an unlocked Ford Windstar in the 7600 block of S.E. 27th Street between 2:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. The total estimated loss was $25.

April 13

Assault and battery: Police arrested a Mercer Island resident, 19, at 4:46 a.m. for assaulting his girlfriend outside his apartment after an argument about money that he owed. He was booked into the Issaquah Jail.

Runaway trailer: A pickup and trailer slid downhill in the 6900 block of S.E. 33rd Street while an excavator was being unloaded at 9:20 a.m. The trailer went off the road and the pickup spun around, striking a tree, several mailboxes and an address monument before jackknifing and coming to a stop.

April 14

Arrest: A disturbance investigation led to the arrest of a Lake Forest Park woman, 27, with a misdemeanor warrant at 2:24 a.m. in the 9000 block of E. Shorewood Drive.

Theft: Someone stole a Bellevue woman’s day planner from the Mercer Island library between 12 and 1 p.m. The planner contained business cards and personal information.

Three vehicles egged: At 8:30 p.m., an egg thrown from oncoming traffic damaged a Honda Accord in the 4800 block of Island Crest Way. An hour later, a BMW was egged in the 6800 block of 84th Avenue S.E. The egg splattered onto the windshield after striking the hood, where it left cracks in the paint. At 10:30 p.m., a Toyota FJ Cruiser was egged in the 3600 block of Island Crest Way. After hearing a loud “thump” on his way home, the driver, a 54-year-old Mercer Island man, pulled over and found that the impact of an egg had chipped some paint off his vehicle.

April 15

Vehicle towed: A vehicle was towed after driving over an unsecured drain pipe and metal ring at 11 a.m. in the 7800 block of Island Crest Way. The driver was not able to swerve, and the vehicle’s underside was extensively damaged.

April 16

Arson: Someone set a fence and gate on fire in the 2400 block of 72nd Avenue S.E. between 1 a.m. and 2:15 a.m. The fire went out before the fire department arrived at the scene.

Drug possession: Police stopped a vehicle without a front license plate at 3:42 a.m. in the 2800 block of 76th Avenue S.E. The odor of marijuana was evident in the vehicle, and the driver was arrested after giving up a bag containing marijuana and a marijuana grinder.

Found: A Mercer Island man, 47, “declined to press charges” when several of his belongings were found in the possession of a transient, including a rake, broom, four-wheel garden cart and Islanders umbrella. Police transported the stranger to Seattle area shelters.

April 17

Theft: Four wallets were stolen out of an apartment in the 7800 block of S.E. 27th Street sometime after April 1. The theft was reported by a friend of the victim. There is one suspect in the case.

April 18

Arrest: Police arrested a Monroe man, 32, at 4:17 p.m. in the 3900 block of westbound I-90 for driving with a suspended license.

April 20

Pedestrian hit: A bicyclist hit a pedestrian at 7:07 p.m. in the 7200 block of East Mercer Way. The bicyclist, a 24-year-old Seattle woman, was traveling downhill and could not avoid running into the pedestrian, a 14-year-old boy, who was setting out his garbage can. Both were taken to hospitals. The bicyclist lost a tooth and another tooth was cracked, and the boy’s back was injured.

Fraud: Thousands of dollars were fraudulently charged to a Mercer Island couple’s credit card between April 11 and April 20.

DUI: After crashing his vehicle down an embankment after 12 a.m. in the 7000 block of North Mercer Way, a 46-year-old Washougal man was taken to Overlake Hospital with facial injuries. His vehicle, an SUV, landed on the driver’s side. The driver had been drinking, and refused a blood draw. There were four witnesses of the incident.

April 22

Car prowl: A book bag with MIHS books was stolen out of a BMW in the 5300 block of 84th Place S.E. after the rear driver-side window was shattered overnight. The loss was $450.

Theft: A resident of 84th Avenue S.E. reported that the front license plate of his vehicle was stolen sometime during the day.

April 23

Car prowl: Someone broke into a Honda minivan in the 2800 block of 61st Avenue S.E. between 12 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. A rear window was shattered. The registered owner was out of the country, and his daughter reported the prowl.

DUI: Police stopped a vehicle speeding 10 mph over the limit at 1:24 a.m. in the 8600 block of S.E. 40th Street. The driver, who had been drinking and failed standard field sobriety tests, was arrested and the passenger took custody of the vehicle.

April 24

Vehicle damaged: A window was shattered out of a Honda in the 7200 block of 80th Avenue S.E. sometime overnight. No one entered the vehicle, and a rock or small debris likely caused the damage. The loss was $500.

DUI: Police arrested a Bellevue man, 49, at 6:38 p.m. in the 8000 block of S.E. 28th Street for driving under the influence. There was one witness of the incident.

April 26

Arrest: Police arrested an 18-year-old male at 5:40 p.m. in the 4200 block of 90th Avenue S.E. for driving with a suspended license.

April 27

Arrest: A driver was arrested at 2:07 a.m. in the 7400 block of North Mercer Way after being stopped for a traffic violation. The suspect, 23, did not have insurance and had a $5,100 Lynnwood warrant for failing to transfer his vehicle title and driving with a suspended license.

April 28

Assault: Police arrested a Federal Way man at 2:26 a.m. in the 6600 block of East Mercer Way for assaulting his wife, who sustained some injuries. The suspect was booked into the Issaquah Jail.

Car prowl: A leaf blower and other landscaping tools were stolen out of the back of a pickup truck between 8:40 and 8:50 a.m. in the US Bank parking lot in the 2700 block of 78th Avenue S.E.
