Girls soccer gears for postseason

With its 5-0 win over Sammamish Thursday, Oct. 23 at Sammamish High School, Mercer Island girls soccer locked a third-place league finish, earning the Islanders the third seed for the 3A KingCo girls soccer tournament.

With its 5-0 win over Sammamish Thursday, Oct. 23 at Sammamish High School, Mercer Island girls soccer locked a third-place league finish, earning the Islanders the third seed for the 3A KingCo girls soccer tournament. With the win, the Islanders improved to 6-3-1 in KingCo and 8-4-2 overall.

Sylvie Dornay posted a hat trick in the winning effort, scoring in the game’s opening minute off an assist from Namya Malik. Jamie Mounger and Julia Meade also scored for the Islanders.

Mercer Island takes on Liberty tonight at 7:30 p.m. at Liberty High School and then finishes its season Thursday, traveling to Bellevue High School to take on the first-place Wolverines at 7:30 p.m. Bellevue remains undefeated at 10-0 in league play and 13-0 on the season.
