Sheila Hosner will discuss building a health center facility in Uganda at the Rotary Club of Mercer Island’s meeting on Feb. 20 at the Mercer Island Community and Event Center, 8236 SE 24th St. The main meeting begins at 12:30 p.m. Guests are always welcome and there is no fee to attend. An optional buffet lunch is available for purchase.

Hosner became acquainted with the Bukobero community in Uganda and their need while she was working in another hospital in Uganda from 2015 to 2018. Leaders of the community asked if she would help them realize their dream of building a Health Center III. After seeing their commitment, she agreed and has been working with them on this project since 2018. Prior to working in Uganda, she retired from the Washington State University department of ecology and is also a Mercer Island High School graduate.
