Indecisiveness on guns unacceptable

A criminal background check prior to purchase of a gun in no way infringes on anyone’s Second Amendment rights.

A few days ago Councilman Dan Grausz and his opponent Ken Scheid were interviewed and asked about citizen’s initiative 594: background checks for all gun purchases which Mr. Grausz signed and strongly supports. Mr. Scheid’s response was that he had not yet decided because while he agreed with background checks, he also wants to protect the Second Amendment.

This indecisiveness on such an important matter to the safety of our community is unacceptable and groundless. A criminal background check prior to purchase of a gun in no way infringes on anyone’s Second Amendment rights; it only serves to keep firearms out of the hands of those with no right to bear arms.
