KMIH awarded as state’s top high school radio station

KMIH 88.9 The Bridge received the general excellence award as the top high school radio station in the state at the recent awards ceremony in Gig Harbor.

In addition, 16 students won individual awards:

First place: Natalie Newcomb — Sports Broadcast or Production, Leah Raissis — Underwriting (second for Interview), Adara Hamilton — Radio Imaging (third for for Air Check), Andrew Hansen, Cole Hibbert, Jaeden Pritchard — Sports Play By Play, Luka Marceta — Newscast, John Majewski — Station Promotion (second for Air Check), Natalie Wilson — Commentary

Second: Riley Milburn — Commentary (second for Air Check), Truman Keith — Sports Broadcast or Production, Alli Shoop — Newscast

Third: Matt McLellan — Radio Imaging, Jonathan James — Air Check, Dan Sundholm — Interview, Emily Raissis — Underwriting

“It is a privilege to have such a great student staff and I am thrilled that the hard work they have put in was recognized at the conference,” said broadcast media instructor Joe Bryant.

KMIH is heard locally on 88.9 FM and streamed online at 889thebridge.org. The station’s new KMIH app is available free in the Apple and Google stores. The station recently launched its new format as “88.9 The Bridge: Music and Conversation That Spans Generations.”
