Log Boom Radio returns to KMIH 889 The Bridge

KMIH to broadcast Seafair Gold Cup and Blue Angels airshow

Special to the Reporter

The student staff of KMIH 889 The Bridge, Mercer Island High School’s award-winning radio station, will put their summer vacations on hold to once again launch Log Boom Radio and broadcast all the Seafair action live from the Stan Sayers pits on Aug. 4-6.

Whether you’re sitting on a boat, on your deck, in the grandstand, or anywhere in the world, you can tune in to 88.9 FM locally or stream at kmih.org to hear all of the unlimited hydroplane races, including the Gold Cup final, the Boeing Seafair Airshow — featuring the Blue Angels — and plenty of great summer music and student-produced interviews and content in between the action on the water and in the air.

From the time the fleet arrives on Tuesday until the Gold Cup trophy is awarded Sunday afternoon, Log Boom Radio will be broadcasting around the clock.

KMIH general manager and Mercer Island High School broadcast media adviser Joe Bryant says, “We appreciate Seafair having us back to present Log Boom Radio again this year. Doing these live broadcasts is a great experience for our students and also helps connect them to a Seattle tradition that I have loved attending ever since I was a kid myself. I am excited to see the Gold Cup being run on Lake Washington for the first time in decades, and all of the best boats in the country will be out on the water for this one.”

For KMIH listeners and Mercer Island residents who would like to attend the races (Aug. 4-6), admission is free for Friday’s qualifying heats and you can get a 20% discount for Saturday and Sunday by entering the promo code Logboom23. The code applies to all levels of tickets including the three-day championship pass, which includes pit access.
