In their first match this season, the Mercer Island volleyball team beat Skyline 4-1 at home on Wednesday evening.

The Islanders were up 26-24 in the first game, but fell 25-23 in the second, but never looked back winning games three and four 25-22 over the Spartans.

Senior Kris Brackmann had 12 blocks during the match, while Sara Lindquist had 15 kills. Lottie MacAulay posted six blocks and three assists for the team, while setter Carly Wilson had 37 assists during the games. Lorial Yeadon had six block and 10 digs, while younger sister Jemma Yeadon added 11 kills for the team.

Skyline’s Meghan Wedeking had 31 digs for the team, while teammate Emily Harris added 14. Halle Erdhal was dominate at the net, posting 20 kills during the four games.

The Islanders will travel to Lake Washington for their first conference match on Thursday, Sept. 6. Skyline hosts Monroe at 7 p.m. on Thursday.
