The Mercer Island girls soccer team earned another shutout win on Thursday night, beating Sammamish 4-0 at home.

The Mercer Island girls soccer team earned another shutout win on Thursday night, beating Sammamish 4-0 at home.

The Islanders, with back to back shutouts, completely controlled the match. Marissa Hammerstrom, who would go on to earn her first hat trick of the season, scored off a pass from Laura Harrison in the second minute. Amanda Wall was the next to score, this time in the 56th minute, assisted by Emily Lightfoot.

Hammerstrom would score twice more in the second half, both unassisted. Her second goal came in the 61st minute, followed by the third in the 79th minute of the game.

The team will host Interlake on Tuesday, Sept. 18 in a 7:30 p.m. game and will play at Juanita on Thursday, Sept. 20.
