The Islanders will be a No. 1 seed going into the state playoffs which begin next week.

Against Lake Tapps, the Islanders were up 4-1 at the end of the first quarter, followed by a 3-2 second quarter for a 7-3 lead for Mercer Island at halftime.

The team continued to dominate in the second half, holding Lake Tapps to just two points, while scoring 10 in the final two periods.

Connor Bernal led the team with four goals, three assists and three ground balls, while Alex Robbs posted three goals, as did Steen Swedstedt. Peter Mahony added two goals and five ground balls, with Grant Priesler posted two goals, as did Hayden Reisman. Carols Barrios made 10 saves for the team.

The Islanders finished the regular season with a 14-6 overall record and will have a bye in the first round of the state tournament.

Mercer Island will host their first state game on Friday, May 18 at 7 p.m. against the winner of the Bellarmine Prep vs. Mukilteo game on Wednesday, May 16. A win would move the Islanders into the state semi-finals on May 23.
