During a recent Mercer Island City Council meeting several members of the Boy Scouts Troop 647 were honored for becoming Eagle Scouts.

During the meeting at City Hall, Erik Gest, Andrew Padgett and Brooks Hamilton were recognized.

To become an Eagle Scout, the highest rank given by the Boy Scouts, members must have progressed through each of the lower ranks, earned 21 merit badges, spend six months in a troop leadership position, take part in a Scoutmaster conference and complete the Eagle Scout board of review. The students must also plan, develop and give leadership to a service project for an organization in their community.
