Mercer Island falls to Everett, Inglemoor in double dual | Prep wrestling

The Mercer Island wrestling team hosted it’s first home match on Tuesday, Dec. 4 featuring the Islanders against 3A and 4A powerhouses Everett and Inglemoor. The Islanders lost both of their matches.

Against Everett, the Islanders fell 42-28. In the 113 weight class Taylan Yuasa pinned Orlano Villa in 1:30, while Trevor Gullstad won the 126 group by forfeit. Jacob Pruchno beat Leo Norton by major decision 10-2 in the 132 weight class, followed by Mike Ong losing to Everett’s Michael Allred 14-7 in the 138 class. Everett’s Tyler Saparto pinned Jimyoung Kim in the 145 group, the same result from the 152 pound match between Nick Richards and Jessie Lopez. Lopez won in 1:24. Jasen Bergesen of Everett beat Jack Vassau in the 160 group by a 13-6 decision. Everett’s Pablo Yeo pinned Chris Richards in the 170 class in 5:16, while Daniel Stanke won his 182 weight class by pinning Anthony Hawkins in 3:48. Evan Condon was pinned by Richard Stewart in 3:00 in the 195 class, followed by Andrew Picton pinning Andrew Johnson in 5:17 giving the Islanders a win in the 220 group.

Against Inglemoor, the Islanders lost 42-33.

In the 113 weight class, Yuasa pinned Frank Burrell in 55 seconds, while Gullstad also pinned his opponent, Brandon Potts in 3:35 and Pruchno beat Jake Lindloff by a 9-8 decision in the 132 class. In the 138 weight class, Ong pinned Eric Wang in 5:34, while Jimyoung Kim lost his 145 class match to Ryan Mydske after being pinned in 5:30. Nick Richards lost to Gabe Seward after a pin 44 seconds in the the 152 weight class match and Vassau pinned Jason Chaussee in 1:35 to win the 160 group. Chris Richards was pinned by Jared Koukal in the 170 match, while Stanke won the 182 group by forfeit. Josh Koukal of Inglemoor pinned Evan Condon in 2:00 in the 195 match, while Ty Utton won the 220 match for Inglemoor over Picton.

The Islanders will host Sammamish on Thursday, Dec. 6 in a 7:30 p.m. KingCo meet.
