After winning its first four league meets, Mercer Island golf suffered its second-consecutive loss to end the season, with the Liberty Patriots besting the Islanders 186-191 in their KingCo finale Thursday at Maplewood Golf Course. Liberty secured a second-place league finish with the win, while the Islanders finished third.

Five of the Patriots’ ten golfers finished the front nine in under 40 strokes, with Liberty’s Ben Graham taking medalist honors, shooting a 33 on the par 36 course. Mercer Island’s Zach Evens posted a 36 to tie with the Patriots’ Luke Hall for second, while Islanders Will Mansfield and Zack Gottesman tied for fourth, both shooting a 38 for the day.

Mercer Island will try to bounce back at the KingCo Tournament, taking place at 8 a.m. Monday, Oct. 13 at Snohomish Golf Course.
