Mercer Island High School graduate Chelsea Bailey was known to her tennis teammates for helping the Islanders to three state titles.

Now at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Bailey is helping that team to new records.

During the fall season, the Panthers played in five invitationals in three states, earning 44 singles wins, a preseason record for the women’s program. As a freshman, Bailey won eight matches, beating teams from Michigan State, Iowa State and the University of Minnesota, along with others. The team will begin its regular spring season on Jan. 20 and will play schools like Marquette, Drake, Bradley, Chicago State and 15 other schools.
